Placemats to Pillows

I really need to learn to use a sewing machine. I’ve got a ton of ideas for curtains, bedding, slipcovers and most importantly pillows. I don’t have a large selection available in the local stores so I decided to use these placemats I found at Target.

They were so simple to make. Because they had two layers of fabric already sewn together, I cut a hole in the back panel that allowed me to stuff them with pillow stuffing I had from old pillows and then I hand sewed them back up.  The seam does show in the back but because they are just for decoration I wasn’t too worried about it.

It was a fun project – my 7 year old son and my 11 year old daughter had fun stuffing the pillows and my daughter even helped sew the backs shut. When she got done with the pillows she went and found all her stuffed animals that had gotten holes in them and repaired them and then even helped my son out and repaired his!

Thanks for looking!!  ~Jess
